Nieuws: Pre-X10 Halo: Reach op X10

Halo: Reach zal aanwezig zijn op de aankomende X10 in San Fransisco, op 11 februari aanstaande. Het evenement werd gisteren aangekondigd. Toen werd ook al bekend gemaakt dat onder meer Fable III, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Alan Wake en Final Fantasy XIII aanwezig zullen zijn. Naast Halo: Reach voegde Microsoft ook nog de add-ons voor Left 4 Dead 2 toe aan de line-up.

Sterke line-up

Met games als Halo: Reach, Alan Wake, Fable III en Splinter Cell Conviction heeft Microsoft dit jaar een erg sterke line-up in handen. Naast multiplatformgames, zoals Final Fantasy XIII, komt er dus ook een hoop exclusiefs uit voor de Xbox 360 dit jaar. De X10 zal gebruikt worden om deze line-up expliciet te tonen aan de wereld.

Today EA revealed some interesting graphical news about it’s upcoming shooter Medal of Honor via the game’s official Twitter page; the single-player campaign will use a heavily-modified Unreal 3 Engine and multiplayer based on Frostbite.

Nieuws: Darksiders krijgt morgen patch

THQ heeft laten weten dat er morgen een patch wordt uitgegeven voor Darksiders. Deze zal de ‘screen tearing’ gaan aanpakken, die alleen in de Xbox 360 versie aanwezig is.

Screen tearing

Veel Xbox 360 bezitters hebben al vanaf de release van Darksiders last van ‘screen tearing’ tijdens het spelen van de game. Dit betekent dat het beeld af en toe twee of meer verschillende frames wil weergeven op hetzelfde moment. Het lijkt er dan op alsof het beeld niet goed in elkaar geplakt is. Dit probleem moet dus morgen zijn verholpen door middel van een patch.

Goed ontvangen

Darksiders is de eerste game van Vigil Games en werd door de pers goed ontvangen. Ook onze Jelle was positief in zijn review.

Nieuws: Supreme Commander 2 krijgt datum

Square Enix heeft de datum waarop Supreme Commander 2 op de PC en Xbox 360 zal verschijnen bekend gemaakt. De PC versie zal op 5 maart verschijnen en de Xbox 360 versie op 19 maart.

Mening Square

Volgens Square Enix zal de game een grote verbetering zijn vergeleken met het eerste deel. Zo zal er volgens hen een spannende verhaallijn zijn met een hoop variërende missies en zal de multiplayer ook een echte ervaring bieden. Dit zal er volgens hun voor zorgen dat Supreme Commander 2 een nieuwe dimensie in het strategie genre zal worden.

Mening Chris Taylor

Chris Taylor laat weten dat hij niet trotser op zijn team zou kunnen zijn omdat ze al zijn verwachtingen te boven zijn gegaan. Verder laat hij weten dat Supreme Commander 2 een memorabele strategie ervaring zal zijn voor elke fan van het genre.

Nieuws: ‘MAG niet mogelijk op Xbox 360′

MAG, wat staat voor Massive Action Game, is onmogelijk te draaien op de Xbox 360. Dat beweert Zipper tenminste, de ontwikkelaar van de game. Nate Klee liet aan CVG weten dat MAG alleen mogelijk is op de PlayStation 3, dankzij de meerdere cores van de Cell processor, het hart van de PS3, dat juist in het begin door veel ontwikkelaars werd verafschuwd vanwege het feit dat deze lastig optimaal te gebruiken zijn.

The SPUs on the PS3 allow us to animate and render and do the ray casts, physics processing and all the things that have to happen for all these different players. So we definitely couldn’t have done it without that. It was a big help. We couldn’t take our code base and make it run on 360. There’s no way that would work.

MAG is sinds vandaag in de VS beschikbaar en zal komende vrijdag ook hier beschikbaar zijn. MAG verlegt de grensen van consoleshooters, door maarliefst 256 spelers tegelijkertijd te ondersteunen. Een gigantisch fragfest is dus op handen, met een slagveld verspreid door het hele level. Als speler kun je ook opklimmen in de hiërarchie van het leger en uiteindelijk als opperbevelhebber commando’s geven.
